Why this blog? Simply put, the decision to write “Success Secrets of the Graphic Design Superstars” came about as a masters degree project (more below…)

This blog, and the forthcoming book, will be a collection of interviews from the best-of-the-best designers and creatives. The idea came about because of the number of people, both students and professionals, who have sought me out over the years and asked, “What do I need to do to succeed?” and “How do I get big clients and/or big projects?”
To answer these and other questions in depth, I’ve decided to bring you a view from the top, including the suggestions and opinions of the most successful, creative people in our industry.
To accomplish this, I started by compiling a list of people that I’ve chosen to define as “superstars” mostly by personal opinion, and numbering about 100. Whether a person was included on this “purely subjective” list is based on the years they have successfully stayed in business, by the size of their clients and projects, and by the artistic and creative quality of their work.
This blog, and the whole project in general, is definitely a work in progress, so if you have thoughts or comments, please feel free to let me know. I welcome your thoughts. Also, if you know of anyone who might be interested in publishing this collection as a book, please let me know.

Nice site Will. Finally got a second to check it out, and like the interview format.
Good Luck to You.

Will, I really like the format and enjoyed reading the first interview, and then just surfing the killer design eye candy. Will come back again to dig deeper into more stories.
You hit this one out of the park !

Your blog is fabulous. My first serious career idea was to be a graphic artist so I am really enjoying reading about the folks you interviewed. I think many of the ideas and concepts they speak about apply to anyone in any profession. It’s all about what makes a person excited to wake up in the morning. I haven’t had that feeling in a long time…I long for that feeling-waking up ready, excited, and passionate about my day and ultimately my life. I guess not being ambilavent about living is a good start.
Thank you for sharing your site/sight/insight with us Will. I know I will visit again. Has heart. Has energy.

Dear Will,
You’ve done such a fabulous job of putting all this information together in an informative, well-designed, inviting, and heartfelt way. I so love the interviews interspersed with the designer’s work.
Can’t wait to see the book!
Thanks so much for sharing this,

Enjoyed finally getting a chance to look around. I’ve got CSS and JavaScript scrambling my brain these days and it’s refreshing to see fine print work.
On another note - a friend of mine worked for one of these top designers a number of years ago. Yikes. It suggests the possibility of another blog - sort of the “Downstairs” to this “Upstairs.”

Will,
You are absolutely amazing, so I’m not surprised that your website is a reflection.
You are both gifted and humble, a beautiful combination. “Mensch” is the word that comes to mind when I think of you and it means a person of integrity and honor. Great work. All the best with your upcoming book.
